It is somehow interesting that I have taken the pictures for this weeks PABUCA topic at a quite peaceful politic demonstration.
An armored Police truck in standby to clear road barriers (if there were any).
Actual Police-built road barriers (only genuine with barb wire on top) to protect the European Central Bank.
They even locked down the tram line. Seriously felt like a warzone (at least as close as you can get to one in downtown Frankfurt).

It’s interesting that you choose the aspect not in an historical context. Looks scary with all this barb wire. But it’s in a kind probably specific for Frankfurt with it’s many places of interest and conflicts. I can not really imagine that for Bochum, because compared to Frankfurt it’s more like a village. 😉
Well, it is not THAT common to lock down the complete city with barb wire, not even in Frankfurt. I think some people in charge were just a bit uber-scary that time. On the other side, the new Tower for the European Central Bank looks much more like a fortress. Not sure what they think they need protection from…
Sehr guter Beitrag, der zeigt, daß der Krieg heutzutage sehr vielschichtig in Erscheinung tritt. Das ausgerechnet ein Geldhaus sich hinter dem Stacheldraht befindet, macht es erst recht sehr nachdenklich. Kapitalismus als Kriegstreiber, den es zu schützen gilt. Die Absurditäten der heutigen Zeit.

Nun, die Fotos entstanden zu den Blockupy Protesten letztes Jahr, die EZB war da das erklärte Ziel der Protestanten. Trotzdem war die Massivität des Polizeiaufgebots und dessen martialisches Verhalten ziemlich erschreckend. Der Ablauf der Demo damals beschäftigt die Gerichte übrigens bis heute…
